द्रोणपर्व — अध्याय १६२: प्रातःसंध्यायां युद्धप्रवृत्तिः तथा रजोमेघे संमूढता
ये मां युद्धेडभियोत्स्यन्ति तान् हनिष्यामि भारत
ye māṃ yuddhe 'bhiyotsyanti tān haniṣyāmi bhārata
Sañjaya said: “O Bhārata, those who will advance against me in battle—those I shall strike down.”

The verse highlights the uncompromising logic of battlefield dharma: once one is engaged as an opponent in war, the response is decisive and lethal. It foregrounds the moral strain of duty—how righteous conduct is tested when survival and obligation demand violence.
In Sañjaya’s report to the Kuru king, a warrior’s intention is voiced: anyone who comes forward to fight him in the battle will be slain. It signals intensifying combat and the hardening of resolve among fighters in the Drona Parva war episodes.
