Sañjaya said: “He is the Pāṇḍavas’ implacable enemy, ever a sinful man. He stands as the very root of calamities, fixed in the counsel and mindset of Duryodhana.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights ethical causality in leadership and allegiance: persistent hostility and sinful intent, when anchored in a destructive leader’s counsel, become the root cause of widespread harm. It warns that aligning oneself with adharma-driven policy multiplies calamity for many.
Sañjaya characterizes a figure on the Kaurava side as a relentless enemy of the Pāṇḍavas and identifies him as a principal source of misfortune because he is firmly committed to Duryodhana’s line of thinking and strategy.
