दैवायत्तमहं मनन््ये जयं सुबलिनामपि | यत्र भीष्मो महाबाहुः शेते शरशताचित:,“मैं तो बड़े-से-बड़े बलवानोंकी भी विजय दैवके ही अधीन मानता हूँ। दैवाधीन होनेके कारण महाबाहु भीष्म आज सैकड़ों बाणोंसे विद्ध होकर रणभूमिमें शयन करते हैं
Transliteration
daivāyattam ahaṁ manye jayaṁ subalinām api | yatra bhīṣmo mahābāhuḥ śete śaraśatācitaḥ ||
Translation
Sañjaya said: “I regard victory—even for the mightiest—as dependent upon destiny. For behold: Bhīṣma, the great-armed hero, lies on the battlefield, pierced and heaped over with hundreds of arrows. Thus the course of war humbles even the greatest, reminding us that human prowess is bounded by forces beyond mere strength.”
