Sañjaya said: “Today, on the battlefield, seeing Kṛṣṇa and the Pāṇḍava (Arjuna) striving together for victory, I rouse within my mind the confidence to overcome them; therefore, O Gautama, I roar aloud.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the inner dimension of warfare: victory is pursued not only by weapons but also by mental resolve and morale. It also implicitly contrasts bravado and self-generated confidence with the formidable reality of Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna acting in unity.
Sañjaya reports a warrior’s reaction on the battlefield: observing Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna striving together, he describes the surge of confidence to defeat them and the outward expression of that confidence through a loud roar addressed to Gautama.
