दुर्योधन–द्रोणसंवादः
Arjuna-vīrya-prasaṃśā and renewed battle formation
mayi jīvati kauravya viṣādaṃ mā kṛthāḥ kvacit | ahaṃ jeṣyāmi samare sahitān sarvapāṇḍavān, kurunandana |
Karna said: “So long as I live, O Kaurava, do not fall into despair at any time. On the battlefield I shall defeat all the Pāṇḍavas, even when they stand united—O joy of the Kurus.”
कर्ण उवाच
The verse emphasizes steadfastness and morale in crisis: as long as a capable ally stands, one should not succumb to despair. Ethically, it also cautions readers to notice how confidence in war can border on pride, which in the Mahābhārata often precedes reversal.
Karṇa addresses a Kaurava prince (likely Duryodhana) to console him and strengthen his resolve, promising that he will defeat the Pāṇḍavas even if they fight united on the battlefield.
