गृध्रोदग्रमहाग्राहां शिवाविरुतभैरवाम्‌ । नृत्यत्प्रेतपिशाचाद्यैर्भूताकीर्णा सहस्रश:

Transliteration

gṛdhrodagramahāgrāhāṃ śivāvirutabhairavām | nṛtyatpreta-piśācādyair bhūtākīrṇā sahasraśaḥ ||

Translation

Sañjaya said: “It was a dreadful scene—filled with vultures and fierce beasts of prey, made terrifying by the howling cries of jackals, and crowded in thousands with spirits and goblins, as if the very forces that rejoice in slaughter were dancing upon the battlefield.”
