Sañjaya said: Purified in that great battle by the fiery power of weapons, he cast off his excellent body. Then, worthy of boons and a giver of boons, Bhūriśravā rose upward—having, by supreme dharma, crossed beyond earth and sky to the higher worlds.

The verse frames a warrior’s death as ethically meaningful when aligned with supreme dharma: the body is relinquished, and the soul’s onward journey is portrayed as purification and ascent, not mere destruction.
Sañjaya reports that Bhūriśravā, after being slain in the great battle, abandons his body and—by the power of his dharma—passes beyond earth and sky to attain the higher realms.
