Droṇa’s sweeping assault and the Abhimanyu–Jayadratha close-quarters episode

saṃhanādaravāṃś cakrur bāhuśabdāṃś ca kṛtsnaśaḥ | tac ca sarvaṃ yathānyāyaṃ dharmarājena bhārata āptair āśu parijñātaṃ bhāradvājacikīrṣitam ||

Sañjaya said: O King, the troops on every side raised lion-like roars and made loud clapping sounds by striking their arms. But, O Bharata, Dharmarāja Yudhiṣṭhira quickly came to know, in due and proper manner through his trusted informants, the full intent of Bhāradvāja’s son (Droṇa)—what he was planning to do.

Educational Q&A

In crisis, loud confidence and public display are less valuable than disciplined discernment. Yudhiṣṭhira embodies dharmic leadership by seeking verified information through trustworthy sources and responding in a measured, proper way (yathānyāyam), rather than being swayed by battlefield noise.

After Droṇa forms an intention/pledge to capture Yudhiṣṭhira, the Kaurava troops celebrate with martial shouts and arm-clapping. Meanwhile Yudhiṣṭhira, through reliable informants, quickly learns Droṇa’s real plan and prepares accordingly.
