Educational Q&A

Even in a destructive conflict, the text highlights the disciplined courage and presence of mind required of a warrior: danger is met not with panic but with skillful, decisive action. The ‘wonder’ underscores how mastery and resolve can overturn seemingly fatal threats.

A powerful spear, launched under the prompting of Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s son, flies toward Bhīma. Bhīma intercepts it and cleaves it into two mid-flight, and Sañjaya reports this as an astonishing event.
