Educational Q&A

The verse highlights a wartime ethical reality within kṣatriya-dharma: courage must be matched with discipline and tactical restraint. Even a renowned hero’s advance can be halted by sustained, skillful opposition, showing how perseverance and method can counter raw momentum.

Sañjaya reports that Vyāpradatta blocks Sātyaki’s forward movement. He does so by repeatedly firing extremely sharp arrows, causing continual disturbance and trembling in the opposing forces and thereby checking Sātyaki’s advance.
