Sanjaya said: “O King, those foremost of men, taking up their great conches, blew them so that their sound filled the sky and the earth together with the ocean.”
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores how collective action in war is publicly signaled and morally weighty: the conch-blast is not mere noise but a declaration of resolve, awakening all to the seriousness of duty (svadharma) and the consequences of violence.
Sanjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the foremost warriors lift and blow their large conches, and the tremendous sound is described as pervading the sky and the ocean-girt earth—marking an intensified moment in the battle’s unfolding.
