Bhīmasena and Droṇa: Containment, Advance, and Recognition

matsyāv iva mahājālaṃ vidārya vigataklamau | tathā kṛṣṇāv adṛśyetāṃ senājālaṃ vidārya tat ||

Sañjaya said: Just as two fish, tearing through a vast net, emerge without fatigue, so too Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna were seen—having ripped apart that net-like mass of the army—appearing unwearied.

Educational Q&A

The verse uses a vivid simile to highlight steadiness and effectiveness amid entangling conflict: true mastery in dharmic struggle is not merely breaking obstacles, but doing so without inner exhaustion—through discipline, clarity of purpose, and (for Arjuna) guidance aligned with Kṛṣṇa.

Sañjaya describes Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna cutting through dense enemy formations. The army is likened to a huge net, and the pair are likened to two fish that tear through it and emerge unstrained, emphasizing their momentum and the inability of the opposing host to contain them.
