Sanjaya said: “Even when Arjuna, the son of Kuntī, fought on foot, the assembled great chariot-warriors could not check him. It seemed almost a marvel.”

The verse highlights steadfast courage and exceptional capability: even deprived of usual advantages (fighting on foot), a warrior grounded in resolve and purpose can remain uncheckable. Ethically, it underscores how inner strength and commitment to one’s duty can outweigh external circumstances.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Arjuna, though fighting on foot, could not be restrained by the gathered elite warriors (mahārathas). The scene emphasizes the extraordinary nature of Arjuna’s performance in the battle.
