Adhyāya 92: Irāvanta-śoka, punaḥ-pravṛttiḥ saṅgrāmasya

Arjuna’s grief and the battle’s renewed intensity

tatra bhārata bhīmena nārācābhihatā gajāḥ | petur neduś ca seduś ca diśaś ca paribabhramuḥ ||

There, O Bhārata, elephants struck by Bhīma’s sharp arrows fell down; some trumpeted in pain, some sank to the ground and sat helplessly, and others, maddened by wounds, wheeled about in all directions. The scene reveals the brutal momentum of battle, where even the mightiest creatures are brought low, and a warrior’s prowess yields both tactical advantage and widespread suffering.
