Bhīṣma’s Pressure on Yudhiṣṭhira; Śikhaṇḍī’s Approach; Evening Withdrawal
तत्पश्चात् भीमसेनने दो बाणोंसे दुर्योधनका धनुष काट दिया, दोसे उसके सारथिको पीड़ित किया और चार बाणोंसे उसके वेगशाली घोड़ोंको यमलोक भेज दिया ।। द्वाभ्यां च सुविकृष्टा भ्यां शराभ्यामरिमर्दन: । छत्र॑ चिच्छेद समरे राज्ञस्तस्य नरोत्तम,नरश्रेष्ठ) फिर शत्रुमर्दन भीमने धनुषको अच्छी तरह खींचकर छोड़े हुए दो बाणोंद्वारा समरभूमिमें राजा दुर्योधनके छत्रको काट दिया
tataḥ paścāt bhīmasenena dvābhyāṃ bāṇābhyāṃ duryodhanasya dhanuś chinnaṃ, dvābhyāṃ tasya sārathiḥ pīḍitaḥ, caturbhiś ca tasya vegavanto hayā yamalokaṃ preṣitāḥ | dvābhyāṃ ca suvikṛṣṭābhyāṃ śarābhyām arimardanaḥ chatraṃ ciccheda samare rājñas tasya narottamaḥ ||
Thereafter Bhīmasena cut down Duryodhana’s bow with two arrows, struck and distressed his charioteer with two more, and with four arrows sent his swift horses to the realm of Yama. Then the enemy-crushing Bhīma, drawing his bow to the full, severed in battle the royal parasol of that king—an emblem of sovereignty—publicly diminishing his martial prestige amid the clash of arms.
