Sañjaya said: Then the radiant Droṇa, foremost among those who bear arms, heard that your sons lay on the battlefield, bewildered and rendered helpless by the Pramohana weapon.

The verse underscores that in war, mere strength or numbers do not guarantee security; higher knowledge and disciplined use of astras can neutralize opponents. Ethically, it hints at the precariousness of pride and the heavy consequences that follow from choosing a path of adharma-driven conflict.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Droṇa has learned that Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s sons have been struck in battle by the Pramohana weapon and are lying stupefied. This news sets up Droṇa’s reaction and the next tactical developments on the battlefield.
