Adhyāya 78 — Bhīṣma’s Advance, Duryodhana’s Rally, and Concurrent Duels
rathinaḥ pattibhiḥ sārdhaṃ sādinaś cāpi pattibhiḥ | anyonyaṃ samare rājan pratyadhāvann amarṣitāḥ ||
Sañjaya said: O King, the chariot-warriors with the foot-soldiers, and the horsemen also with the foot-soldiers, rushed at one another in battle, inflamed with wrath and unwilling to endure any affront. The scene shows restraint collapsing as anger drives combatants into mutual assault, deepening war’s moral tragedy.
