आत्मदोष-उपदेशः तथा भीम-धृष्टद्युम्नयोः संयोगः

पूर्वाह्नि तन्महारीद्रं राज्ञां युद्धमवर्तत । कुरूणां पाण्डवानां च मुख्यशूरविनाशनम्,पूर्वाह्नकालमें कौरव-पाण्डव नरेशोंका वह महा-भयंकर युद्ध आरम्भ हुआ, जो बड़े- बड़े शूरवीरोंका विनाश करनेवाला था
pūrvāhṇi tan-mahārīdraṃ rājñāṃ yuddham avartata | kurūṇāṃ pāṇḍavānāṃ ca mukhya-śūra-vināśanam ||
Sañjaya said: In the forenoon, that exceedingly dreadful battle of the kings began—between the Kurus and the Pāṇḍavas—a conflict destined to destroy many of the foremost heroes.
