Chapter 7: Dvīpa–Varṣa–Meru-varṇana

Description of the Dvīpa, Varṣas, and Mount Meru

उत्तरा: कुरवो राजन्‌ व्याख्यातास्ते समासतः । मेरो: पार्श्वमहं पूर्व वक्ष्याम्यथ यथातथम्‌,राजन! इस प्रकार मैंने आपसे थोड़ेमें उत्तरकुरु-वर्षका वर्णन किया। अब मैं मेरुके पूर्वभागमें स्थित भद्राश्ववर्षका यथावत्‌ वर्णन करूँगा

uttarāḥ kuravo rājan vyākhyātās te samāsataḥ | meroḥ pārśvam ahaṃ pūrvaṃ vakṣyāmy atha yathātatham ||

Sañjaya said: “O King, I have briefly described to you the Uttara-Kuru region. Now I shall describe, in due order and as it truly is, the land of Bhadrāśva situated on the eastern side of Mount Meru.”
