Sañjaya said: “For his victory, this very moment has been appointed by the Universal Source (Brahmā).” Hearing these words spoken by a divine messenger, Bhīṣma grasped the grave weight of the heavenly proclamation: the time for decisive effort had been fixed, and delay would be a failure of duty before destiny’s opening.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical urgency of acting when the rightful moment (kāla) arrives: duty is not only about intention but also about timely effort. When a divinely sanctioned opportunity is indicated, hesitation can become a lapse in dharma.
Sanjaya reports that a divine message declares the present moment as the appointed time for victory, fixed by Brahmā (Viśvayoni). Bhīṣma hears this proclamation through a divine messenger/voice, signaling that decisive action is now required.
