The Discipline of the Supreme Person) — Chapter 15 (Bhagavadgītā

Arjuna said: Thinking of You merely as my friend, whatever I blurted out rashly—“O Krishna,” “O Yadava,” “O friend”—not knowing this true greatness of Yours, whether out of carelessness or out of affection, I ask You to forgive. And for whatever disrespect I showed You in jest—while walking, resting, sitting, or at meals—whether when we were alone or even in the presence of others, O Acyuta, I beg pardon of You, the immeasurable One.

Educational Q&A

Intimacy with the divine does not cancel reverence: Arjuna models ethical humility by acknowledging that affection and familiarity can lead to careless disrespect, and he seeks forgiveness once he recognizes Krishna’s true majesty.

After witnessing Krishna’s overwhelming divine revelation, Arjuna realizes he had previously addressed Krishna too casually and even joked at his expense in private and in public; he now formally apologizes and asks pardon for those past offenses.
