Vyāsa said: “When the sacrificial fire shines with a clear, tranquil radiance; when its flames rise upward, curling to the right, and there is no smoke at all; and when the offerings cast into it send forth a pure fragrance that spreads on the wind—these are declared to be the visible signs of victory that is about to come.”
व्यास उवाच
Victory is portrayed as connected to auspicious order: when ritual signs are pure—clear light, smokeless flame, rightward rising, and fragrant offerings—it suggests harmony between human action and a favorable moral-cosmic alignment, not merely brute strength.
Vyāsa reports traditional auspicious indicators seen in the sacrificial fire: its appearance and the fragrance of offerings are interpreted as omens that a forthcoming victory is destined or strongly indicated.
