Educational Q&A

The verse frames victory not merely as strategy but as something accompanied by discernible ‘liṅgas’ (signs). It highlights a traditional ethical worldview in which outcomes in war are read through moral and cosmic indicators, and urges inquiry into truth (tattvataḥ) rather than rumor or fear.

Dhṛtarāṣṭra, anxious about the coming conflict, questions the revered speaker and asks to hear all the auspicious signs that manifest for those who are destined to win in battle.
