Educational Q&A

Perform your duty while surrendering all actions to the Lord: act without craving for outcomes (nirāśīḥ), without possessiveness (nirmamaḥ), and without inner agitation (vigata-jvaraḥ). This is Karma Yoga—outer action with inner renunciation and God-centered intention.

On the battlefield, Arjuna is being instructed to fight. Krishna concludes a section on the necessity of action for maintaining social order (lokasaṅgraha) and commands Arjuna to engage in war as dharma, but with a mind anchored in the Self and free from personal desire.
