Educational Q&A

The verse foregrounds humility and legitimacy in transmission: Sañjaya attributes his extraordinary capacity to report the war truthfully to Vyāsa’s grace, implying that reliable knowledge—especially about dharma in a crisis—rests on disciplined lineage, blessing, and ethical reverence for the source.

Sañjaya begins his war-report to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra. Before describing the battle, he offers homage to Vyāsa (Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s father), acknowledging that Vyāsa’s boon is the cause of his divine insight enabling him to recount events accurately.
