Bhīṣma-nipāta-saṃvāda — Sañjaya’s Report of Bhīṣma’s Fall (भीष्मनिपातसंवादः)

रक्ष्ममाण: कथं वीरैगोप्यमानाश्न तेन ते । दुर्जयानामनीकानि नाजयंस्तरसा युधि,जब मेरे पक्षके बहुत-से वीर उनकी रक्षा करते थे और वे भी उन वीरोंकी रक्षामें दत्तचित्त थे, तब भी उन सब लोगोंने मिलकर शत्रुपक्षकी दुर्जय सेनाओंको कैसे वेगपूर्वक परास्त नहीं कर दिया?

“When many heroes on my side were guarding them, and they too were intent on protecting those heroes, how was it that, even together, they did not swiftly overthrow in battle the enemy’s hard-to-conquer armies?”
