यः शक्तः समरे भीष्म॑ प्रतियोद्धुमिहाहवे । ऋते त्वां पुरुषव्याप्र सत्यमेतद् ब्रवीमि ते,“वीर! इस विषयमें बार-बार विचारने या संदेह निवारणके लिये कुछ कहनेकी आवश्यकता नहीं है। तुम महारथी भीष्मको शीघ्र मार डालो। युधिष्ठिरकी सेनामें तुम्हारे सिवा दूसरे किसीको ऐसा नहीं देखता, जो समरभूमिमें भीष्मका सामना कर सके। पुरुषसिंह! मैं तुमसे यह सच्ची बात कह रहा हूँ
yaḥ śaktaḥ samare bhīṣma pratīyoddhum ihāhave | ṛte tvāṃ puruṣavyāghra satyam etad bravīmi te ||
Sañjaya said: “Who in this battle, here on this field of war, is capable of standing against Bhīṣma in single combat—except you? O tiger among men, I tell you this as the truth.”
संजय उवाच
