Bhīṣma’s unmatched momentum and the assault with Śikhaṇḍin in the lead
दुःशासनं शतेनाजौ नाराचानां समार्पयत् | भगवान् श्रीकृष्णको बाणोंसे पीड़ित हुआ देख अर्जुनका क्रोध उभड़ आया और उन्होंने दुःशासनको युद्धमें सौ नाराचोंसे घायल कर दिया
duḥśāsanaṃ śatenājau nārācānāṃ samārpayat | bhagavān śrīkṛṣṇo bāṇaiḥ pīḍitaḥ saṃdṛśya arjunasya krodhaḥ samudabhavat, sa ca duḥśāsanaṃ yuddhe śata-nārācaiḥ viddhavān |
Sañjaya said: In the thick of battle, Arjuna’s anger surged when he saw Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa afflicted by arrows. In response, he struck Duḥśāsana on the battlefield with a hundred nārāca shafts, wounding him severely.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights protective duty and devotion: when the righteous protector (Kṛṣṇa) is harmed, Arjuna’s response is not mere rage but a dharmic resolve to counter unjust aggression decisively within the rules of war.
Sañjaya reports that seeing Kṛṣṇa struck by arrows, Arjuna becomes intensely angered and retaliates by shooting Duḥśāsana with a hundred nārāca missiles, grievously wounding him in the ongoing Kurukṣetra battle.
