Bhīṣma’s unmatched momentum and the assault with Śikhaṇḍin in the lead

Sañjaya said: In the midst of battle, Kṛpa—Śaradvat’s son—angered and resolute, checked Sahadeva as he advanced toward Bhīṣma’s chariot. Thus, even on the battlefield, the elders and masters sought to restrain a dangerous charge and to shape the course of combat through disciplined intervention rather than unchecked fury.
Even amid righteous warfare, action should be governed by discipline and strategic restraint; unchecked anger or reckless advance is countered by responsible intervention, especially by seasoned elders who understand the larger consequences.
Sahadeva moves toward Bhīṣma’s chariot on the battlefield, and Kṛpācārya—angered—steps in to stop him, preventing Sahadeva’s direct approach to Bhīṣma at that moment.
