Sañjaya said: “O King, as he rushed forward, the son of Somadatta restrained him.” In the heat of battle, Bhīma—overwhelmed by fierce anger and intent on slaying Bhīṣma, the beloved son of the Gaṅgā—was checked by Bhūriśravas, Somadatta’s son, who intervened to prevent a headlong, wrath-driven assault.

Even in righteous war, uncontrolled anger can drive one toward rash action; the episode highlights the ethical value of restraint and timely intervention to prevent violence born primarily of wrath rather than discernment.
Bhīma, rushing forward in great fury to kill Bhīṣma, is stopped by Bhūriśravas (Somadatta’s son), who steps in and blocks his advance.
