रथेन हरियुक्तेन तं देशमुपजग्मिवान् । वज्रपाणिर्महातेजास्तं ददर्श द्विजोत्तमम्,उत्तंक नागलोकमें जानेका मार्ग बनानेके लिये निश्चय करके धरती खोदते ही जा रहे थे कि महातेजस्वी वज्रधारी इन्द्र घोड़े जुते हुए रथपर बैठकर उस स्थानपर आ पहुँचे और विप्रवर उत्तंकसे मिले
rathena hariyuktena taṃ deśam upajagmivān | vajrapāṇir mahātejās taṃ dadarśa dvijottamam ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Indra, mighty and radiant, wielder of the thunderbolt, rode to that place in a chariot yoked with tawny steeds and beheld Uttanka, foremost among Brahmins. It was a fateful moment: as the resolute ascetic pressed on, digging into the earth to make a way to the realm of the Nāgas, divine authority arrived—poised to counsel him on dharma and the limits of personal vengeance.
