Uttanka’s Guru-Śuśrūṣā and the Commission to Retrieve the Maṇikuṇḍalas (उत्तङ्क-गुरुशुश्रूषा तथा मणिकुण्डल-आदेशः)
यादृशेनेह रूपेण योग्यं दातुं धृतेन वै
yādṛśeneha rūpeṇa yogyaṃ dātuṃ dhṛtena vai
Uttaṅka said: “In whatever form it is fitting here to make the gift, it should indeed be given with steadfast resolve.”
उत्तडुक उवाच
That giving (dāna) should be done in a manner appropriate to the situation and recipient, and it should be carried out with firm resolve—without wavering, hesitation, or half-heartedness.
Uttaṅka is speaking and emphasizing the proper mode of making a gift: whatever form of offering is suitable in the present context should be given decisively and with steadiness of purpose.
