Arjuna’s request to Krishna and the opening of the Kāśyapa–Brāhmaṇa mokṣa discourse (Āśvamedhika-parva 16)
mama kautūhalaṁ tv asti teṣv artheṣu punaḥ punaḥ | bhavāṁs tu dvārakāṁ gantā nacirād iva mādhava ||
Vaiśampāyana said: “My curiosity about those matters keeps arising again and again. And since you, O Mādhava, are soon to depart for Dvārakā, please recount those very topics to me once more.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the dharmic value of earnest inquiry (jijñāsā): important teachings and events deserve to be revisited, especially when time is short and separation is near. Repetition here is not redundancy but a way of deepening understanding and retaining what is ethically significant.
Within the frame narration, Vaiśampāyana expresses renewed eagerness to hear certain matters again and addresses Mādhava (Kṛṣṇa), noting that he will soon leave for Dvārakā. He therefore requests a prompt retelling before the departure.
