न च क्षयो<यं नृपते ऋते दैवबलादभूत्‌ | अवश्यमेव संग्रामे क्षत्रियेण विशेषत:

Transliteration

na ca kṣayo ’yaṃ nṛpate ṛte daivabalād abhūt | avaśyam eva saṅgrāme kṣatriyeṇa viśeṣataḥ ||

Translation

Vaiśaṃpāyana said: “O king, this destruction did not occur without the force of destiny. In battle, destruction is indeed inevitable—especially for one who is a kṣatriya.”
