Kuntī’s Retrospective Uddharṣaṇa and Renunciatory Resolve (कुन्त्युद्धर्षण-प्रत्याख्यानम्)
ततस्ते सत्वरा जग्मु: पितुर्दर्शनकाड्क्षिण: । सहदेवस्तु वेगेन प्राधावद् यत्र सा पृथा
tataste satvarā jagmuḥ pitur darśanakāṅkṣiṇaḥ | sahadevastu vegena prādhāvad yatra sā pṛthā ||
Then they hurried away, eager to behold their father. Sahadeva, however, ran swiftly to the place where Pṛthā (Kuntī) was.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights filial reverence and the ethical impulse to seek the presence and blessing of one’s elders—especially a father—while also showing attentive care for the mother (Pṛthā), reflecting dharma expressed through family duty and compassion.
The group hastens forward, longing to see their father; Sahadeva, in particular, breaks into a run toward the spot where Pṛthā (Kuntī) is, indicating urgency and concern in the unfolding meeting.
