Vaiśampāyana said: Draupadī (Kṛṣṇā) also set out, and Subhadrā of the Sātvata line, and Uttarā of the Kuru house carrying her young child. Citrāṅgadā too, and whatever other women of the inner apartments there were—all of them departed together with the king, accompanied by their daughters-in-law.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even when political life ends, dharma continues through steadfast loyalty and shared responsibility: the royal women do not abandon the elder king but accompany him, showing that renunciation is not merely personal withdrawal but also a disciplined, duty-bound transition supported by the household.
As Dhṛtarāṣṭra departs for the forest life, the principal women—Draupadī, Subhadrā, Uttarā (with her child), Citrāṅgadā, and other palace women—also set out with him, along with their daughters-in-law, forming a collective departure from the palace toward ascetic retirement.
