ऋषय ऊचु: सर्व एव क्षुधार्ता: सम न चान्यत् किंचिदस्ति न: । भवत्या: सम्मते सर्वे गृहल्लीयाम बिसान्युत,ऋषि बोले--भटद्रे! इस समय हमलोग भूखसे व्याकुल हैं और हमारे पास खानेके लिये दूसरी कोई वस्तु नहीं है। अत: यदि तुम अनुमति दो तो हम सब लोग इस सरोवरसे कुछ मृणाल ले लें
Translation
The sages said: “Revered lady, we are all afflicted by hunger at this time, and we have nothing else to eat. Therefore, if you consent, allow us to take some lotus-stalks (mṛṇāla) from this lake.”
