Pitāmaha said: “O Devendra (Śatakratu), the question you have raised—concerning the giving of cows and related acts of charity—is of a kind that scarcely anyone in this world asks. Indeed, apart from you, there is no other questioner like this.”
पितामह उवाच
The verse elevates go-dāna (cow-gift) as a rare and serious object of inquiry, implying that true dharma includes thoughtful concern for charitable giving and its ethical-spiritual consequences.
Bhīṣma (Pitāmaha) addresses Indra (Śatakratu), praising him for asking about the significance of cow-donation and related charitable acts, and notes that such a question is uncommon in the world.
