Bhīṣma said: “O Indra, celestial women adorned with divine garlands—absorbed in dance and song—attend upon the giver of land in heaven.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse teaches the exceptional spiritual merit of gifting land: such a donor is honored in heaven, symbolized by celestial attendants who serve him with song and dance. It elevates bhūmi-dāna as a high form of dharmic generosity.
Bhīṣma, instructing on dharma, addresses Indra and describes a heavenly scene: apsarases adorned with divine garlands, engaged in music and dance, stand in attendance upon the person who has given land, indicating his honored status in svarga.
