भीष्म उवाच
The chapter’s framing emphasizes dāna-dharma: giving is a moral discipline, not merely an act of transfer. Its value depends on right intention, worthy recipients, and alignment with dharma, so that generosity strengthens ethical life and social harmony.
This verse functions as a colophon: it announces the completion of the fifty-sixth chapter within the Dāna-dharma portion of Anuśāsana Parva, identifying the preceding material as the dialogue between the sage Cyavana and Kuśika.
