ज्येष्ठस्य भागो ज्येष्ठ: स्थादेकांशो यः प्रधानत: । एष दायविदधि: पार्थ पूर्वमुक्त: स्वयम्भुवा,कुन्तीनन्दन! ज्येष्ठ पुत्रका भाग भी ज्येष्ठ होता है। उसे प्रधानत:ः एक अंश अधिक मिलता है। पूर्वकालमें स्वयम्भू ब्रह्माजीने पैतृक धनके बँटवारेकी यह विधि बतायी थी
Translation
The eldest son’s portion shall be the eldest’s: in principle he is to receive one additional share as the principal allotment. This is the rule for dividing paternal wealth that the Self-born Brahmā declared in ancient times, O son of Kuntī.
