मातङ्ग–शक्रसंवादः

Mataṅga–Śakra Dialogue on Tapas, Status, and Moral Qualities

मेरो: समुद्रस्य च सर्वयत्नै: संख्योपलानामुदकस्य वापि | शक्यं वक्तुं नेह गड़ाजलानां गुणाख्यानं परिमातुं तथैव,कदाचित्‌ सब प्रकारके यत्न करनेसे मेरु गिरिके प्रस्तरकणों और समुद्रके जलविन्दुओंकी गणना की जा सके; परंतु यहाँ गंगाजलके गुणोंका वर्णन तथा गणना करना कदापि सम्भव नहीं है

meroḥ samudrasya ca sarvayatnaiḥ saṅkhyopalānām udakasya vāpi | śakyaṃ vaktuṃ neha gaṅgājalānāṃ guṇākhyānaṃ parimātuṃ tathaiva ||

The Siddha said: Even if one were to exert every possible effort, it might be feasible to state the number of the pebbles of Mount Meru and even to count the drops of the ocean’s water; but here, to recount and to measure the virtues of the waters of the Gaṅgā is never truly possible.
