शिलवृत्तिस्वाच के देश:के जनपदा: के55श्रमा: के च पर्वता: । प्रकृष्टा: पुण्यत: काश्न ज्ञेया नद्यस्तदुच्यताम्‌,शिलवृत्तिवाले ब्राह्मणने पूछा--ब्रह्म! कौन-से देश, कौन-से जनपद, कौन-कौन आश्रम, कौन-से पर्वत और कौन-कौन-सी नदियाँ पुण्यकी दृष्टिसे सर्वश्रेष्ठ समझनेयोग्य हैं? यह बतानेकी कृपा करें

śīlavṛttiḥ svāca: ke deśāḥ ke janapadāḥ ke āśramāḥ ke ca parvatāḥ | prakṛṣṭāḥ puṇyataḥ kāś ca jñeyā nadyaḥ tad ucyatām ||

The Brahmin living by a disciplined, austere livelihood said: “Which regions and kingdoms, which hermitages, which mountains, and which rivers should be regarded as foremost from the standpoint of sacred merit? Please tell me.”
