Mataṅga–Śakra Dialogue on Tapas, Status, and Moral Qualities

Vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca: mene divi-stham ātmānaṃ tuṣṭyā paramayā yutaḥ.

Vaiśaṃpāyana said: Endowed with supreme contentment, Bhīṣma regarded himself as already abiding in heaven. Hearing the pure-hearted words of the sages, he became deeply satisfied—suggesting that inner purity and wise counsel can confer a foretaste of liberation even while one remains in the world.
