अहिंसयित्वा ब्रह्महत्याविधानम् / Brahmahatyā incurred without physical violence
युधिषछ्िर उवाच यदि ते ब्राह्मणा लोके व्रतिनो भुञ्जते हवि: । दत्तं ब्राह्गकामाय कथं तत् सुकृतं भवेत्,युधिष्ठिरने पूछा--पितामह! यदि ब्रह्मचर्यव्रतका पालन करनेवाले ब्राह्मण श्राद्धमें हविष्यान्नका भोजन करते हैं तो श्रेष्ठ ब्राह्यणकी कामनासे उन्हें दिया हुआ दान कैसे सफल हो सकता है?
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca yadi te brāhmaṇā loke vratino bhuñjate haviḥ | dattaṃ brāhma-kāmāya kathaṃ tat sukṛtaṃ bhavet ||
Yudhiṣṭhira said: “O grandsire, if in this world Brahmins who are observing vows partake of the havis-offering food at a śrāddha, then how can a gift—given with the desire to obtain the status or merit of a ‘brāhma’ (highest) good—truly become a successful act of virtue?”
