(Rudra-Stavarāja) — Exempla of Śiva’s Boons and the Hymn’s Phalaśruti
tato 'bhyanujñāṃ samprāpya stuto matimatāṃ varaḥ |
Then, having obtained permission, I—praised as the best among the wise—offered a hymn of praise to the Lord, the Master of sacrifice, keeping Him directly before me through devotion and acting only by His assent.
The verse emphasizes acting with humility and propriety: even a powerful or wise being proceeds only after receiving divine consent, and devotion (bhakti) is presented as the means of keeping the Lord present while offering praise.
Vāyudeva states that he first received permission and then performed a stuti (hymn of praise) to the Lord described as Yajñapati, indicating a reverent, sanctioned act rather than self-willed action.
