Vāyu-deva said: “He is the bearer of all beings, the abiding refuge of every creature, all-pervading and the very principle of existence. Unfailing in power, self-restrained, manifest as the noble steed, the giver of sustenance, and the preserver of life-breath in all.”
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse praises the divine as the universal support and refuge: omnipresent existence that never fails, sustains life, provides nourishment, and exemplifies self-restraint—linking cosmic power with ethical discipline.
Vāyu-deva is speaking in a laudatory passage, enumerating epithets that describe the deity’s cosmic functions (supporting beings, sustaining prāṇa, providing food) and manifestations (as a noble steed), as part of a broader instruction through praise.
