अध्याय १६ — शङ्कर-उमा-वरदानम् तथा तण्डि-स्तुतिः (Śaṅkara–Umā Boon-Granting and Taṇḍi’s Hymn)
देहकृद् देहभद् देही देहभुगदेहिनां गति: । प्राणकृत् प्राणभृत् प्राणी प्राणद: प्राणिनां गति:,आप शरीरके निर्माता और शरीरधारी हैं, इसीलिये देही कहलाते हैं। देहके भोक्ता और देहधारियोंकी परम गति हैं। आप ही प्राणोंके उत्पादक, प्राणधारी, प्राणी, प्राणदाता तथा प्राणियोंकी गति हैं
dehakṛd dehabhṛd dehī dehabhug dehināṃ gatiḥ | prāṇakṛd prāṇabhṛt prāṇī prāṇadaḥ prāṇināṃ gatiḥ ||
Vāyu-deva said: You are the maker of bodies and the sustainer of bodies; therefore you are called the embodied Self. You are the enjoyer of the body and the supreme destination of all embodied beings. You are the producer of vital breaths, the bearer of life, the living principle itself, the giver of life, and the final refuge and goal of all living creatures.
