Bhīṣma’s Yogic Departure, Royal Cremation, and Gaṅgā’s Lament

Then, on that beautiful, holy, and timeless Devagiri, when the sages cast their gaze about, they saw neither Lord Śarva (Śiva) nor even the assemblage of his attendant beings.

Educational Q&A

Sacred places and sincere seeking do not guarantee immediate visions; spiritual pursuit often includes periods of apparent absence that test steadiness, humility, and commitment to inquiry.

Nārada narrates that the sages arrive at the holy mountain Devagiri and look around, but they do not see Śiva (Śarva) nor his attendant host of bhūtas, setting up the next development as they seek to understand where the deity and his retinue are.
