Adhyāya 152 — Bhīṣma’s Authorization for Yudhiṣṭhira’s Return to the Capital (नगरप्रवेशानुज्ञा)

Maheshvara said: “A man rich in understanding speaks in one manner in the assembly—measured, discerning, and suited to the occasion. But the self-assertive braggart speaks quite differently, uttering weak and unreliable words. One who is endowed with knowledge and practical discernment, skilled in weighing alternatives, and who asks his doubts of various competent speakers, does not fall into distress.”
